Kenneth Mroz was born in Michigan in 1943. He enlisted in the service when he was 18 years old, then came to California after four years in the Navy.
He received a degree in Electronics in Los Angeles, and later met his future wife Carol Hennessey in 1966 while he was employed as an engineer at Hughes Aircraft.
Ken’s first love was as an entrepreneur and inventor. A keen mind, he was known for designing breakthrough products ranging from new types of speakers to electronic fitness equipment.
He moved to San Diego from Los Angeles in the early 1970’s to begin a 15 year career at General Dynamics. While there, he was a leader in several programs, including the Tomahawk cruise missile project. In the early 1990’s, he foresaw the trend toward more stringent environmental controls, and began the design of the mecoAlarm. He subsequently founded Meco, with the encouragement of his brother-in-law who worked at Clawson Tank.
Now, in the face of an ever-increasing need for – and legislation regarding – environmental control systems, Ken’s legacy and memory live on as Meco expands its product line and clientele around the globe.
